Today we shall write about the first stage in the procurement process-Need identification.Often organizations go for wants instead of a Need.The want is something derived out of wish rather than what the organization requirements in order to reach her production goals.The need therefore is derived from organizational requirement to produce of service the business demands.This is where the first challenge starts to procurement.The procurement manager role to be effective should challenge needs identified to ensure that they are aligned to organization goals.Often procurement manager willing to challenge is overridden by departmental heads wishing to meet their wants.In this regards therefore organizational management must align with procurement team to ensure needs identified and send to procurement teams for action are real needs to meet organizational objectives.
